"Through painting, I express the feelings that inspire me, my perceptions of this world, and the helplessness of living a life on the brink of disaster, both human and ecological. Colors symbolize hope."
VY's paintings are a splash of color, a subtle but strong wave of the brush. Texture, form and atmosphere converge in her compositions to create a tenuous harmony, sometimes teetering towards chaos. Her paintings come alive unexpectedly through lines and textures, like veins, previously unseen, in the body. There is a further sense of wandering urgency to her work; she paints winding turns, patches of spirit and intensity, roaming and unsure paths that slowly circle back to suggest a finer mystery as the lines converge. Hers is a winding and ghostly road that moves, irrevocably, toward a single, unifying composition.

“Par la peinture, j’exprime les émotions que m’inspire le monde dans lequel nous vivons en proie aux désastres tant humains qu’écologiques. La couleur, elle, symbolise l’espoir.”
Les peintures de VY sont des touches de couleur, faites d’un coup de pinceau subtil mais ferme. La texture, la forme et l’atmosphère convergent dans ses compositions pour créer une harmonie fragile, parfois vacillant vers le chaos. Ses peintures prennent vie de façon inattendue à travers les lignes et les textures, semblables aux veines du corps humain. Il y a comme un sentiment d’urgence qui erre dans ses toiles ; elle peint des spirales tortueuses, des tâches d’esprit et d’intensité ci et là, des chemins incertains et sans fin qui font demi-tour comme pour suggérer qu’il y a là un mystère plus grand encore lorsque les lignes convergent. Sa vie est une route sinueuse et fantomatique qui avance, irrévocablement, vers une seule et unique composition.
“Je choisis mes couleurs, je choisis mon matériel, mais dans le processus de la création, quelque chose prend le dessus. J’ai l’impression que mes peintures viennent d’un autre endroit, inconnu et secret.”
